AGM, Dinner and Prize Giving – a lovely social evening where the Society’s silverware gets handed out to well deserving members and a good opportunity to meet friends old and new.
Yearling Show – held at Holsworthy Market. A great opportunity for novice handlers and youngstock to prepare for the show season. A friendly day where newer members are encouraged to “have a go” with specific Young Ruby classes. There are some helpful hints & tips in the DCBS Show Guide Etiquette – ask a seasoned showing member for guidance and they will be delighted to oblige
Start of the showing season – kicked off by North Somerset Show (1 day) and Devon County Show (3 days).
The Society has a stand at all of the multi day Shows where designated Devon classes are catalogued, and is the meeting point for a post judging gathering following the Devon section classes – come along and join in, or just call by the stand for tea and a chat.

Submit Herd Competition entries – judged by DCBS President Elect. The moment for herds to parade their virtue on home turf, in their working clothes; and a great opportunity to invite skilled but sensitive feedback from a fresh perspective. Overall results may even earn you some silverware!

Visit to winner of Herd Competition – the overall winner of the Herd Competition proudly throws open their farm gate and welcomes all members to come along for a visit.
Autumn Show & Sale – all cattle lorries and trailers head to Sedgemoor once more (more detail above at ‘Spring S & S’).
Winter Fairs & Primestocks – schedules come out for the last showing sprint of the season: that of prime cattle. Most events have classes for native breeds and several have special prizes for Devons.
