The DCBS Spring Show & Sale was a resounding success with 10 Devon bulls sold averaging over £5500, an increase over last year’s record. The top seller topping out at £9000gns, he was the Show Champion pick of John May (Judge) and owned by Mr & Mrs JR Stanbury. Knowstone Plum was purchased by Mrs P Idelson-Smith and headed to the Trebarfoote Herd in Bude, Cornwall.

       

Two further bulls reached 7800gns, outstanding prices for top quality bred and raised Devon bulls from Steve Cleverdon and Messrs Dart and Sons. They were immaculately turned out on the day with Coombe Skylark placed second in the show behind the Champion and Champson Titan winning his class.

Devon females were equally impressive with 28 heifers sold with 3 yearlings averaging £2170.00 from Lisa Roper at Forde Abbey.  25 Two-year-olds averaged £2310.00 coming from eight Devon breeders. Top selling heifer was Trebarfoote Beauty 18^th coming from the organic herd of Mrs P Idelson-Smith. The heifer going to Daylesford Organics in Morten-in-the Marsh. Graham Summerhayes’ Rocknell Gabrielle took Champion Female honours in the show section and sold for 2700gns.
